Sanjay Raman is serving as the President and CEO of the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation. He is a Professor of Electrical Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech, and has also been serving as Associate Vice President, Virginia Tech National Capital Region, where he is responsible for planning and executing region-wide initiatives to enhance the university’s research, education, and outreach missions.

He is also a founding member of the VT Multifunctional Integrated Circuits and Systems (MICS) research group. Dr. Raman was on assignment as a Program Manager in the DARPA Microsystems Technology Office, from 2007-2013, responsible for R&D programs in the areas of adaptive RF/mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs), RF MEMS, and 3D/heterogeneous integration technologies.

Raman received the bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (with Highest Honor) from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in EE from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1993 and 1998 respectively. From 1987-1992 he served as a nuclear trained submarine officer with the U.S. Navy. He is an Elected Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
